Northwestern Flying Organization (NWFO) is a flying club
run by a group of volunteers and is based out of BC.
We take significant pride in being one of the few clubs that
provides not just the aircraft, but the information, expertise,
and support for BC's premier flying club.
We operate on a purely not-for-profit basis with collected proceeds
going towards all operational expenses/cost-recovery.
We believe in creating a space for pilots of all forms to truly enjoy
General Aviation outside of the typical environments to foster
a near-ownership like experience, with the freedom and flexibility involved,
without the pain and financial impact of actual ownership.
We are very proud to be labelled by even outsiders as the best block time operation
in BC, and we will continue to strive to meet that expectation for our clients.
C-GAZE (aka Tina the Cheetah) is a beautiful 1976 Grumman Cheetah acquired
from an Airbus Engineer in Germany in late 2024, and imported into Canada as C-GUTE
where it undertook a significant internal airframe restoration and import inspection.
Of course, we must address the pièce de résistance - the full Garmin Avionics suite.
The phenomenal Garmin G3X panel is accompanied by the full stack of Garmin Avionics,
such as the GNC 355A, GNC 225A, GMA 345, GTX 335, and GDL 52, providing VFR and IFR
capability that meets FAA/Nav Canada ADS-B and Canadian TAA standards.
Backed up as well with a recently overhauled engine, recently reupholstered interior,
recent paint that we apply polishing and ceramic coating to, we also added upgrades,
such as the PowerFlow exhaust system, SureFly electronic magneto, and more to
ensure the best experience possible for our members.
From there, it has been taken onto VFR and IFR trips to places all around the continent,
such as Calgary, Toronto, Alaska, California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Oregon, Montana,
Texas, Illinois, Ohio, Florida, Louisana, Alabama, The Dominican Republic,
Anguilla, Puerto Rico, The Bahamas, and that was only in the first year of operations,
with much more to come throughout the next few years.
We are proud to work with our AMO partners which has been tending to the aircraft,
from the very beginning as they even did the pre-buy in Germany, and we do not
compromise, utilizing data monitoring, engine and oil analysis, and other tools
to ensure flight safety at all times. As we also share hangar space with them,
we have quick response times to any maintainence matters, and allows us to
go above and beyond, such as our 30 hour oil change policy.
We are also very proud to work with our regulatory, commercial, and instructional partners,
with their expertise from local FTUs and Transport Canada, to help assist in
developing operational guidelines and ensuring members are truly skilled and equipped
to handle real-world flying outside of the rote training environment or to enjoy
trips with the aircraft, rather than just the typical
$300 hamburger.
And most imporantly, we are also very proud of core volunteers who help maintain the club,
as they assist in other roles such as management, accounting, tech, and design.
